COLLEGE STATION, Texas. – The Samford football team wrapped up the 2025 season with a 48-0 loss at third-ranked Texas A&M Saturday at Kyle Field.
The game was played in front of 104,877 fans, the largest crowd any Samford team has played in front of. Samford ended its season with a record of 1-11. Texas A&M improved its record to 11-0.
"This is a wonderful college football environment," Samford interim head coach Scot Sloan said. "This is what college football is about, to get to play in this stadium, in front of this crowd. I thought their fans were phenomenal, first class. It was an opportunity for our guys to experience this level of football."
For Samford in the game,
Quincy Crittendon completed 7-of-16 passes for 46 yards.
Preston Bird had one reception for 27 yards. For the Samford defense,
Jaden Mosley and
Carson Sloan had 10 tackles each. KeShwan Washington had an interception, and
Nick Crayton recovered a fumble.
Texas A&M was led by Marcel Reed, completing 10-of-15 passes for 120 yards and three touchdowns. Amari Daniels rushed nine times for 106 yards.
The Aggies scored 21 points in the first quarter on three touchdown passes from Reed, one for three yards to Ashton Bethel-Roman, another from six-yards out to K.C. Concepcion and another to Bethel-Roman for 58 yards as Texas A&M built a 21-0 lead in the first period.
In the second quarter, the Aggies struck for 10 more points. Daniels scored on a one-yard run and Jared Zirkel kicked a 25-yard field goal as Texas A&M took a 31-0 lead into the locker room at halftime.
Texas A&M added seven points in the third quarter. Tiger Riden Jr. scored on a one-yard run to push the lead to 38-0. In the fourth quarter, Zirkel kicked a 39-yard field goal and Preston Landis scored on a two-yard run to make the final score 48-0.
