Women’s Golf Opens Spring Season With Match Against UAB

HOOVER, Ala. – The Samford women's golf team opened its spring season with an 18-hole match against UAB Saturday afternoon at the Hoover Country Club (Par 72, 5,860 yards).

UAB won the event with a team score of 296 (+8), while Samford finished with a total score of 311 (+23).

Samford was led individually by Anika Richards, finishing second out of 18 players, with a one-over-par 73. Gabi Nicastro and Grace Engel both tied for 10^th at 79 (+7). Christian Williams tied for 12^th at 80 (+8) and Anne Reaves Skinner finished 15^th at 81 (+9).

Four Samford players played as individuals, with their scores not counting toward the team total. Ella Stoll tied for 12^th at 80. Kate Joyner placed 16^th with a score of 83, while Haley Lockhart and Morgan Franklin both tied for 17^th with identical scores of 86.

Samford will next play in the Oyster Shuck Match Play, Feb. 10-11, in Charleston, S.C.
