HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – The Samford men's golf team placed 17^th in the Wexford Intercollegiate, held Monday and Tuesday at the Wexford Golf Club (Par 72, 6,884 yards).
 
Samford finished with a three-round team score of 918 (315-298-305), placing 17^th in the 18-team field. Xavier won the event with a final score of 863 (292-287-284).
 
Individually for Samford, Matthew Smith placed 19^th in the 90-player field, shooting a three-round score of 221 (77-69-75). Garrison Guthrie tied for 46^th at 227 (76-77-74). Gavin Isbell (82-76-80) and Damin Strydom (80-79-79) both tied for 78^th with identical scores of 238. Campbell Sciortino finished 87^th with a final score of 243 (90-76-77).
 
Samford will next compete in the Gulf Coast Collegiate, held Feb. 24-25, in New Orleans, La.
