NORTHBROOK, Ill. - Samford's
Trey Fort from men's basketball and
Ellison Chadwick from track and field have been nominated for the inaugural Allstate and the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics Good Works Team. The team was designed to honor student-athletes excelling in academics, sports, and community impact. Nominated by athletics administrators, conference office staff, and coaches, these student-athletes embody leadership, service, and character.
"These young women and men are more than competitors – they're leaders, changemakers, and role models," said Holly Rowe, ESPN reporter, play-by-play commentator, and Allstate NACDA Ambassador. "Their influence extends beyond the game, shaping communities, and teaching others the value of leadership skills, like empathy, resilience and integrity, which will last a lifetime."
Fort joined Samford prior to this season as a senior with the men's basketball program. Off the floor, Fort has used his NIL to lead a Thanksgiving Food Drive where he provided food for the holiday season to those in need in the downtown Birmingham community. He also partnered with the Boys and Girls Club in Birmingham to provide toys for Christmas for families who would otherwise struggle to provide a gift for their children. On the court, the Mississippi native has started every game this season. He has helped the Bulldogs to a 20-8 record so far this season while leading the team in scoring, averaging 14.1 points per game. He had a career-high 36 points in Samford's win at Wofford last weekend.
Chadwick is in her sophomore year at Samford as a member of the track and field program. A Stone Mountain, Georgia native is a member of the Samford Ambassadors program where she volunteered in hosting donors for Bulldog football and basketball games. She helped run luncheons and family weekend events on campus. As a freshman, she was a small group leader and met with fellow students to discuss their spiritual curriculum and was a volunteer at a church camp retreat. Back home she is an involved member of her church in kids ministry and a small group leader. Chadwick has won twice during the indoor track season in the long jump and has a season-best mark of 5.91 meters and set a personal record in the 60m of 7.76 seconds.
Nominations can be submitted for up to one female and one male student-athlete from each winter sport at an institution. Eligible schools and athletics programs must represent one of five intercollegiate athletics divisions: NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA and Junior/Community Colleges.
