NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Samford men's golf team placed eighth in the Gulf Coast Collegiate, held Monday and Tuesday at the English Turn Golf and Country Club (Par 72, 7,078 yards).
Samford finished with a three-round score of 892 (305-292-295) to finish eighth in the 18-team field. Louisiana-Monroe won the event with a final score of 856 (293-278-285).
Individually for Samford,
Matthew Smith led the way with a three-round total of 219 (73-70-76), tying for 16
th in the 96-player field.
Tiaan Hugo tied for 19
th with a score of 220 (77-71-72), while
Garrison Guthrie tied for 37
th at 224 (77-75-72).
Brian Boles (80-76-76) and
Taylor Kuehn (78-79-75) both tied for 65
th with identical scores of 232.
Craig Sanders, who was playing as an individual with his score not counting towards the team total, tied for 37
th at 224 (75-77-72).
Next up, Samford will compete in the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Invitational, Mar. 10-11 in Aiken, S.C.
