BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford men's tennis team opened Southern Conference play with a 7-0 win over The Citadel Sunday afternoon at the Samford Tennis Center.
 
With the win, Samford improved its season record to 10-4 overall and 1-0 in Southern Conference play. The Citadel fell to 2-13 overall and 0-2 in league play.
 
Samford swept all three doubles matches to take the early 1-0 lead.
 
The Bulldogs then swept all six singles matches to capture the 7-0 win. At No. 1 singles, Sandeep Mohandoss defeated Noah Van Dyke, 6-1, 6-1. On the No. 2 singles court, Darcy Nicholls earned a 6-1, 6-1 win over Ted Bagwell. At No. 3 singles, Hayden Menon defeated Bradey Minnich, 6-2, 6-3.
 
At No. 4 singles, J.B. Pickard defeated Reece Beckendorf, 6-1, 6-0. On the No. 5 singles court, Santiago Arredondo defeated Nick Stroumpis, 6-1, 6-3. At No. 6 singles, Sebastian Harrison earned a 6-3, 6-1 win over Graham Hardin.
 
Next up, Samford will play at Wofford on Sunday, March 9. The match is set for a 1 p.m. (CT) start from Spartanburg, S.C.
