BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford softball team is back in action tomorrow as they take a break from Southern Conference play to face Alabama in Tuscaloosa tomorrow. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. as the Bulldogs enter the game with a 23-14 record while the Crimson Tide are 25-13.

The Dogs have started SoCon play 5-1 after a series win against Mercer and a series sweep of Western Carolina this weekend. Samford dominated their road three-game set where they outscored Western Carolina 44-6. Samford had 42 hits in the series, including 12 home runs over the three-game sweep. Ella Nelson is the reigning SoCon Player of the Week after a 4-10 week where she hit three home runs in game two against WCU. Jordyn Partain went 2-0 this weekend, going 7 innings and keeping the Catamounts scoreless while Olivia Treece earned the win going 5 innings in game two of the series.

Samford and Alabama are meeting for the 29th time with the Crimson Tide leading the series 26-2. Alabama is coming off a series win against a ranked Georgia team over the weekend. The two sides already met once this season where the Bulldogs fell 9-2 in Birmingham. The Bulldogs sit 68th in the NCAA RPI ranking, the highest of any team in the SoCon.

Olivia Shaw continues her stellar sophomore campaign as she leads the Bulldogs in nearly every offensive category and sits in the top five in the conference. Logan Champion continues to hurt opposing pitching with the long ball as she hit her ninth this weekend and is tied for second in the SoCon. Joi Hubbard has been setting the table atop the Samford batting order as she now qualifies after missing a handful of games and still leads the league in stolen bases with 20 and is second on the team in average at .345.
