JONESBORO, Ark. – The Samford men's golf team placed fourth at the Arkansas State Spring Invitational, held Monday and Tuesday at Ridge Point Country Club (Par 72).
Samford finished with a three-round score of 867 (288-297-282) to finish fourth in the 10-team field. The host school, Arkansas State, won the event, with a final score of 828 (275-277-276).
Samford was led individually by
Gavin Isbell, who finished fifth in the 60-player field with a six-under-par 210 (69-74-67).
Damin Strydom tied for 11
th with a three-round score of 216 (77-71-68), while
Matthew Smith finished 18
th at 219 (70-76-73).
Garrison Guthrie tied for 28
th with a three-round total of 224 (72-78-74).
Tiaan Hugo rounded out Samford's playing five, tying for 44
th with a final score of 229 (78-76-75).
Nolen Wolfe and
Craig Sanders both played as individuals, with their scores not counting towards the team total. Wolfe tied for 46
th at 230 (73-80-77), while Sanders tied for 53
rd at 233 (75-84-74).
Samford will next compete in the Southern Conference Championship, April 20-22 in Greensboro, Ga.
