SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The Samford softball team had a player receive individual accolades today from the Southern Conference offices this afternoon as
Olivia Shaw was named the conference's Player of the Week.
The Bulldogs are coming off a 2-1 week as they took a home series against Furman this weekend. Shaw was the catalyst offensively in the middle of the Samford lineup as she went 6-for-11 at the plate with four RBIs and four runs scored. The sophomore was an extra-base machine as five of her six hits went for doubles. On the season, the Georgia native is hitting .379 with 49 RBIs, a 1.139 OPS, and leading the conference and is tied for the national lead with 20 doubles.
Samford defeated Furman 5-1 and 6-5 to start the series this weekend before falling 6-1 in the finale. The Dogs record sits at 30-18 overall and 11-4 in SoCon play as they sit tied atop the league with UNCG.
Up next, the Bulldogs go on the road to face a tough Chattanooga side for two games on April 26 and one on April 27. The Mocs are 33-12 on the year and 10-4 in conference play.
