BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford men's tennis team was defeated by Ole Miss, 7-0 on Saturday afternoon at the Samford Tennis Center.
The Bulldogs were unable to gain early momentum in doubles play, as Ole Miss secured two wins to claim the doubles point. Samford's doubles team of Sebastian Harrison and Vitorio Sardinha was trailing before the match was left unfinished once the point was decided.
In singles action, Samford faced a strong Rebels lineup, with all six matches decided in straight sets or three sets in favor of Ole Miss. Sebastian Harrison battled forcing a third set before falling to Pietro Pampanin. Darcy Nicholls and Sandeep Mohandoss also competed near the top of the lineup but were unable to turn the tide.
Despite the final score, the Bulldogs gained valuable experience against a nationally recognized opponent as they continue early-season competition.
Samford will look to regroup as it prepares for its next match of the spring schedule at Alabama on February 1st in Tuscaloosa.
