ATHENS, Ga. – The Samford University baseball team concluded its weekend series at No. 9 Georgia with a 22-0 loss Sunday afternoon at Foley Field.
With the loss, Samford fell to 2-5 on the season. Georgia improved to 6-1 with the win. The 22 runs are the most given up by a Samford team since allowing 23 runs to Alabama State in 2014.
Hayden Perry had Samford's lone hit in the game, going 1-for-1 at the plate.
Andrew Marble (1-1) pitched 2.0 innings, giving up seven runs on six hits to take the loss for Samford.
John Malone,
Austin Tommasini,
Andrew Arnold and
Zak Spurrier also saw time on the mound for Samford.
The Georgia offense produced six home runs, with Michael O'Shaughnessy and Brennan Hudson hitting two each, and Jordy Oriach and Kolby Branch hitting one apiece. Dylan Vigue (1-1) pitched 4.0 innings, allowing no runs on one hit to earn the win on the mound for Georgia.
Georgia plated four runs in the first innings, three runs in the second inning, 10 runs in the third inning and five runs in the fourth inning to pull away for the 22-0 win.
