Engel Named SoCon Golfer Of The Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford junior golfer Grace Engel was named the Southern Conference's Golfer of the Week when the league released its weekly women's golf awards Wednesday afternoon.
Engel earned individual medalist honors at the Golfweek/Stifel Spring Challenge last week. She finished the three-round tournament with a score of five-under-par 208 (68-72-68) to tie for first in the 100-player field.
This marks the sixth time in the spring season a Samford player has been named Golfer of the Week. Gabi Nicastro earned the honor on Jan. 28, Feb. 18, Mar. 11 and Apr. 1, while Anika Richards won the award on Feb. 11.
Next up, Samford will compete in the Southern Conference Championship, Apr. 20-22 in Blythewood, S.C.
