Samford Soccer Joins Nine SEC Teams In Regional Top 10 Rankings

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford soccer team was ranked seventh in this week's United Soccer Coaches Southeast Region rankings, making Samford the only non-SEC team in the top 10.
The Bulldogs have a record of 3-0-2, with a tie at then-second-ranked Notre Dame to open the season. The Bulldogs have wins over Belmont (2-0), Georgia State (1-0) and Jacksonville State (4-1) and a tie with South Alabama (1-1).
Vanderbilt, who is ranked third nationally, is No. 1 in the regional rankings. Alabama, ranked sixth in the nation, is second in the region. Tennessee is ranked 10th in the nation and third in the region.
Tennessee is followed in the regional rankings by South Carolina at fourth, Florida at fifth, Georgia at sixth, Samford at seventh, Texas at eighth, Mississippi State at ninth and Auburn at 10th.
Samford will next play at Alabama on Thursday, Sept. 3. The game is set for a 7 p.m. start from Tuscaloosa, Ala.
