Bulldogs Compete In Prestigious Southern Showcase

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The Samford men's and women's cross-country teams competed in the prestigious Southern Showcase Friday morning in Huntsville. Facing off against some of the top programs in the south, including three SEC schools and three ACC schools, the Samford women placed 16^th, while the men came in 25^th.

The women's squad ran a 5,000-meter race and the Bulldogs placed 16th out of 31 teams with 546 points. The women were led by Felicity Hamilton, placing 33^rd in the 309-runner field, with a time of 17:35.0. Bela Doss came in 117^th, running the race in 18:36.5, while Marlo Hibler finished 119^th at 18:37.4.

Isabella Edwards placed 152^nd with a time of 18:58.3. Nora Brahim placed 219^th with a time of 19:42.0, while Gaby Boutros came in 260^th at 20:07.4.

The men's team, running an 8,000-meter race, finished 25^th in the 29-team field with 650 points. Individually for the men, William Jordan placed 57^th out of 302 runners with a time of 25:11.3. Shawn Stephenson came in 117^th, running the race in 25:51.2. Crew McDaniel placed 192^nd at 26:38.7.

Stephen Jones came in 203^rd with a time of 26:45.0, while Kenneth Bishop finished 211^th at 26:49.8. Whit Thornton placed 215^th at 26:55.2, while Loden Kohrman came in 247^th with a time of 27:28.5.

Next up, Samford will compete in the Crimson Classic, Oct. 16, in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
