NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Samford volleyball team earned its first win of the 2026 season, taking down Belmont 3-2 (25-19, 23-25, 21-25, 35-33, 15-10) on Saturday evening at the Curb Event Center.

With the win, Samford improves to 1-3 on the season, while Belmont falls to 1-4.

Samford opened the match with a 25-19 win in set one, before Belmont took the next two sets, 25-23 and 25-21. The Bulldogs responded by taking an extended fourth set, 35-33. Samford sealed the deal in set five, 15-10.

Senior outside hitter Ally Cordes led the way for Samford, posting her second double-double of the season with a career-high 31 kills to go along with 22 digs. Junior outside hitter Brianna Hamilton also posted a double-double with 14 kills and 15 digs, while recording a .429 hitting percentage. Freshman setter Alison Ohlinger had a big night, totaling 66 assists, 11 digs and five service aces. Freshman middle blocker Hazel Slusher recorded six blocks. Samford finished the match with a season-high .237 hitting percentage on 198 attempts.

For Belmont, Connie Kofoed led the way with 16 kills and 19 digs, while Erin McMullen added 16 kills on a .412 hitting percentage. The Bruins finished with a .199 hitting percentage on 191 attempts.

The Bulldogs close the weekend at Vanderbilt on Sunday. First serve is set for 1 p.m. in Memorial Gymnasium.
