High School: Was a first-team All-State selection . . . also a three-time All-County selection . . . named to the All-Region team and was the All-Region Defensive MVP . . . played in the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Game and was a finalist for both the Mr. Football and 1-A Lineman of the Year awards . . . was a two-time team MVP, and he had the highest tight end rating in the nation . . . tallied 76 tackles, 15 tackles for loss , three forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries . . . also played baseball and basketball.
