SAMFORD CLASSIC TOURNAMENT RULES
1. SCRAMBLE FORMAT: All players hit from the tee box, the best shot is then selected and all players hit the next shot from that location. This is repeated until the ball is holed. DO NOT TAP IN SHORT PUTTS UNTIL ALL PLAYERS HAVE ATTEMPTED THEIR PUTTS. THE FIRST BALL HOLED WILL BE THE BALL THAT COUNTS. THE TEAM MUST HOLE FOR A SCORE (NO AUTOMATIC PAR / BOGIE).
2. All men will play from the Three Star tee markers. All women will play from the One Star markers. Players 65 years and older may play from the Two Star markers.
3. You may lift, clean and place the ball within one (1) club length of the original position, no closer to the hole anywhere on the course except for the green or a water hazard. You may not improve the position of the ball from one condition to another (rough to fairway, fairway to green, etc.). If the original shot is in a sand bunker, all players may place the ball but they MUST remain in the bunker.
4. On the putting green, the ball must be placed within 3 inches from the original ball, no nearer to the hole.
5. Hole prizes will be awarded on each hole – see below. All participants are limited to winning a maximum of one (1) hole prize. Prizes will be awarded starting with the #1 hole moving forward.
6. Tiebreakers for team prizes will be decided by which team won the #1 handicap hole. If a tie remains, the #2 handicap hole will be used to break the tie and so on until all team winners are determined.
Hole Contest Rules and Procedures

Closest to the Pin Second Shot

2. A player is not required to make the putt to win the prize.
3. The team is not required to select the shot to win the prize.
4. In the event of a tie, the winner will be decided by a putt-off.
5. The player competing for the hole prize MUST hit their contest shot LAST.
Longest Drive
- The ball MUST be in the fairway to qualify.
- In the event of a tie, the winner will be decided by a putt–off.
- The player competing for the hole prize MUST hit their contest shot LAST.
Longest Putt
1. Golf balls MUST be on the green to qualify.
2. The team selects one of the golf balls on the green to putt for the TEAM score.
3. The Hole Marshal will ask the designated player for the longest putt contest which golf ball they wish to putt. The player can select any ball that on the green.
4. If the ball selected for the TEAM score and longest putt are the same, the designated player for the longest putt MUST putt last and may only putt ONCE – i.e. not once for the team score and an additional putt for the longest putt.
5. If the ball selected for the longest putt is different from the ball selected for the TEAM score, only the designated player may putt the ball selected for the longest putt contest and he/she is allowed only ONE attempt to make the putt.
6. If the ball selected for the longest putt is different from the TEAM selection, and the designated player makes the putt, it cannot be counted for the TEAM score.
7. The ball selected for the TEAM score and the longest putt will be appropriately marked with a tee or coin. If the longest putt selection is made, the hole Marshal (not team members) will measure the distance from the mark to the cup. If a putt has already been made by another team that is a greater distance than your putt selection, PUTT ANYWAY, because the player listed may have already won a previous prize and players are allowed to win only one hole prize.
8. In the event no long putts are made, a random drawing of players who have not won a prize previously will determine the winner.
