Matthew Addison

Matthew Addison is in his first season as a volunteer assistant coach with the Samford baseball program. His duties include assisting with the hitters, coordinating the base running and bunting phases of the offense and serving as first base coach.
 
Addison came to Samford after spending one year as a hitting instructor at Southwest Mississippi Community College. Prior to his time at Southwest, Addison spent two years at Chipola Junior College in Marianna, Fla., where his duties included working with the pitchers and outfielders, and serving as third base coach and recruiting coordinator.
 
The 2011-12 Chipola signing class boasted eight draft picks, including supplemental first round pick, Larry Greene, Jr.
 
The 2011 Chipola team won 41 games and earned the Florida Panhandle Conference, Region 8 and Florida Junior College championships. The team advanced to the Alpine Bank Junior College World Series, finishing the year as the fifth-ranked team in the country.
 
Since 2010, Addison has coached 13 players who have been either selected in the Major League Baseball Draft or signed as a free agent.
 
Addison played four seasons as a standout middle infielder at Mississippi College. During his playing career, he was honored as Mississippi College’s Outstanding Senior Athlete.
 
Addison is married to the former Katie Turner of Ocala, Fla., and they have two sons, Banks (4) and Charley (1).
