Andrew Gray

Andrew Gray enters thid second season as a full-time member of the Samford football coaching staff. Gray serves as the team’s cornerbacks coach.

Gray’s cornerbacks were a key part of a much-improved defense that helped the Bulldogs post the program’s best season in over 30 years, finishing with a record of 11-2 overall and 8-0 in Southern Conference play. The team won the program’s first outright SoCon title and reached the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division I-FCS Playoffs for the first time since 1991.
    
Gray spent the 2021 fall season as an assistant, working with the defensive backs. He spent the 2021 spring season as a defensive quality control coach and assistant with the linebackers. He ran meetings and drills for the linebackers, completed opponent break downs and scouting reports, assisted in practice planning and scripting and served as the offensive scout team coordinator. 
        
Gray came to Samford after serving the 2019 season as an assistant at the University of Sioux Falls. At USF, he coached the defensive ends, mentoring two All-Conference players. 
        
While at Sioux Falls, Gray ran meetings and drills for the defensive line, broke down film and was the offensive scout team coordinator. He also was the assistant recruiting coordinator, and he coached positions on kickoff, punt return and kickoff return. 
        
Gray played football at the University of South Dakota, where he was a team captain and a two-time All-Missouri Valley selection.
        
Gray earned his bachelor’s degree from South Dakota in 2019.
