Chris St. John enters his first season as a member of the Samford football coaching staff. St. John coaches the Bulldogs' outside linebackers.
He returns to Birmingham after spending a year on staff at McNeese State as a defensive analyst in 2022. Not a stranger to the Birmingham metro area, St. John was an assistant coach at nearby Hoover High School in 2021.
Prior to his time in Hoover, St. John coached at Mount Zion High School in Jonesboro, Georgia during to the 2020 season.
St. John opened the pervious with stops at Greenville State (2010) and West Georgia (2011).
After coaching a trio of seasons (1997-99) at Notre Dame High School in Sherman Oaks, California, St. John spent a decade on staff at Florida State under legendary coach and Samford graduate Bobby Bowden. First as a student assistant videographer (2000-06) and later as a graduate assistant (2007-09).
St. John holds a bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Social Sciences from Florida State University.
