Ryan Davis is in his second season at Samford and his first as director of strength and conditioning.

In his new role, Davis oversees all aspects of Samford’s strength and conditioning program.

Davis spent his first year at Samford as the football strength and conditioning coach for the Samford Bulldogs. In that first year, Davis implemented the "Fourth Quarter" program, which has had a major impact on the football program.

"I am excited about Ryan joining our staff," Samford Head Coach Pat Sullivan said. "He is a very knowledgeable coach, and he will bring a great enthusiasm to our players and to our program."

Davis came to Samford after having served as the assistant strength and conditioning coach for football at the University of Alabama since September 2010. At Alabama, he worked with the 2011 BCS National Champion Crimson Tide squad.

In addition to working with the football program at Alabama, Davis also oversaw the strength and conditioning program for women’s crew, women’s tennis and volleyball.

His time at Alabama marked his second stint at the school, as he served as a strength and conditioning intern at Alabama in 2009. During that period, in addition to working in strength and conditioning, he also worked as a coach at the Alabama football camps.

Prior to returning to Alabama, Davis was the strength and conditioning coach for the football program at the University of Louisville from May to September of 2010. He was an assistant strength and performance coach at the University of West Florida from August 2008 to April 2010.

Davis also has experience at the high school level. He was an assistant football coach at Jackson Memorial High School in Jackson, N.J., in the summers of 2007 and 2008.

Davis earned his bachelor’s degree in exercise science from Rowan University in Glassboro, N.J., in 2006. He also earned a master’s degree in education from the University of West Florida in 2010.
