Tristan Tillette begins his fifth season as assistant coach for the Samford basketball team.
Tillette handles travel plans, film exchange and scheduling. This summer, he spent his first season as a recruiter and has continued to take on more responsibility.
"Tristan is highly organized and extremely perceptive," Jimmy Tillette said of his son. "He brings thoughtful, fresh insights. In his role, he is a natural conduit between the players and the staff members."
Tillette enjoyed a successful playing career at Berry College in Rome, Ga., being named to the All-TransSouth Conference team following his senior season. He finished his career as the school's all-time leader in three-pointers made (198) and was second in assists (438). He started 98 consecutive games at point guard for Berry.
He played high school ball at Vestavia Hills High School, where he was a member of the 1992 Class 6A State Championship team that finished 32-2 overall.
Tillette earned his undergraduate degree in history and political science from Berry in 1998. In 2001, he received his master's degree in exercise physiology.
The 27-year-old Tillette is married to the former Kendra Shea.
