Sarah Cespedes enters her first season as Assistant Coach of the Samford University Softball program.
Cespedes joins Samford after spending a year with head coach Megan Curry at Birmingham-Southern. She played softball for five seasons at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. While at UAB Cespedes pitched 401.2 innings with a 3.33 career ERA. She made 132 appearances, recording 294 strikeouts during her five-year stint, including 87 in her senior year. She was a recipient of the C-USA Commissioner's Academic Medal and the Conference USA Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education.
Cespedes works primarily with the Bulldog's pitching staff as the team's pitching coach.
