Andrea Ward Lemmond begins her sixth season as an assistant coach for the Samford women’s basketball team.
     
Lemmond is involved in all aspects of the women’s basketball program, including recruiting, andpractice and in-game ­coaching.
     
During her time at Samford, Lemmond has helped elevate the program to new heights. In four of her five seasons with the program, the Bulldogs have won at least 20 games, including a school-record 25 games during the 2010-11 season. That season, the team won the Southern Conference Tournament and reached the NCAA Tournament for the first time. The Bulldogs returned to the NCAA Tournament after winning their second-straight SoCon Tournament in 2012.
     
The 2012 NCAA Tournament was the third-straight national postseason tournament appearance for the Bulldogs. The team also reached the WNIT following the 2009-10 season, earning a win in the first round over Ole Miss.
     
Before returning to Samford, Lemmond spent two seasons as an assistant coach at Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Ala. She was involved with practice planning, scouting reports, recruiting, ­scheduling, academic monitoring, summer camps and the booster club. In her final ­season, she also served as the school’s assistant strength and con­ditioning coach.
     
A 2006 Samford graduate, Lemmond played four seasons for the Bulldogs. She had her best season as a senior in 2005–06, helping lead the team to its first 20-win season and its first trip to the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament semifinals. Lemmond also assisted with the program’s summer camps in 2003, 2004 and 2005.
     
Lemmond earned a bachelor’s degree in ­education from Samford in 2006. She earned her master’s degree from Auburn University in 2008.
           
Lemmond was married last May to fellow Samford graduate and former Bulldog football player Graham Lemmond. The couple resides in the Birmingham area.
