Samford University Athletics

Ryan LaFoy is entering his second year as the athletic trainer for the Bulldogs women’s basketball and men’s tennis teams.

Prior to joining the Samford staff, LaFoy served as the athletic trainer for softball and women’s swimming at the University of North Florida from 2020-2021. From 2019-2020, he provided care for The University of Alabama’s swimming and diving program.

LaFoy completed his graduate assistantship at Georgia State in 2019, where he was awarded his master’s degree in Exercise Science. There, he provided care to the baseball, football, and beach volleyball teams. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training from The University of Alabama.

His professional certifications and licensures include Licensed Athletic Trainer from the Alabama Board of Athletic Trainers (LAT) and Certified Athletic Trainer from the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification (ATC); American Heart Association CPR/AED for Healthcare Providers; and Corrective Exercise Specialist from the National Academy of Sports Medicine.
