Bianca Svensson

Bianca Svensson arrived at Samford University in the summer of 2014 and immediately made a huge impact on the Bulldogs’ women’s tennis team. Samford finished its spring dual-match campaign with an unblemished 7-0 record in Southern Conference play and earned its first SoCon regular-season title in school history.

Additionally, the Bulldogs finished 3-0 in SoCon Tournament play and won the 2015 SoCon Tournament title. Samford earned a trip to the NCAA Tournament and squared off against the 13th-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide in the opening round of 64.

Svensson is in the midst of her first season as a graduate assistant coach on staff at Samford. Svennson, who was a four-year letterwinner and NCAA Tournament participant at the University of Alabama, came to Samford from the University of Southern Mississippi, where she was also a graduate assistant.

Svennson joined the Bulldogs’ coaching staff in the summer of 2014 boasting a wealth of collegiate coaching experience. Upon finishing her career at Alabama, she served as the assistant coach at Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Va.

During her time at Washington and Lee, Svennson acted as the team’s recruiting coordinator and brought in the No. 1-ranked class in Division III for the 2011 season. The class was also tabbed as the No. 10 squad amongst all mid-majors by TennisRecruiting.net.

Svennson graduated from the University of Alabama in 2010 with a bachelor of arts degree in political science. She also earned a minor in psychology.

While at Alabama, Svensson competed with the Crimson Tide for two seasons. During that time, she played positions 4-6 in singles and 1-3 in doubles, posting a 29-34 overall singles record and a 31-43 doubles ledger.

Svennson was named to the ITA All-Academic Team both seasons, in addition to earning Spring Academic All-Southeastern Conference Honor Roll recognition as a sophomore, and being named to the SEC Freshmen All-Academic Team.

After being sidelined by injuries during her junior and senior seasons, Svensson assumed the responsibility of a student assistant coach at Alabama. In that role, she assisted the team with recruiting, community service and other special events.

In May of 2014, Svennson graduated with her master’s degree in sports management from the University of Southern Mississippi. During her two years at Southern Miss, she worked alongside Head Coach Dominic Modise in daily team and individual practice planning. Svennson also managed and planned team schedules and administrative meetings.

While at Southern Miss, Svennson served as the recruiting coordinator and helped the team improve from 0-21 in 2013 to 12-13 last season. In 2014, the Golden Eagles started six talented freshmen, which were all recruited in some capacity by Svennson. Four of the aforementioned players garnered All-Conference USA honors.

Svensson, a native of Atlanta, Ga., and a graduate of Marist High School, is the daughter of Otto and Dolores Svensson. She has one sister, Alexa.
