Samford freshman punter Chris Hicks was named the Ohio Valley Conference's Special Teams Player of the Week by the Conference on Sunday.
Hicks punted five times, averaging 45.8 yards per kick, in the Bulldogs' game against Tennessee State Saturday afternoon. Hicks had a long punt of 52 yards on the day, and he placed three kicks inside the Tennessee State 20-yard line.
Hicks received the honor for the second time in three weeks, as he was named Special Teams Player of the Week on Oct. 12 after averaging 42.1 yards per punt in his collegiate debut against Murray State.
Hicks and the Bulldogs will play at Tennessee Tech on Saturday, Nov. 1, in Cookeville, Tenn. The game is set for a 2:00 p.m. kickoff.
