CFPA Honors Taliaferro And Walters

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Samford quarterback Dustin Taliaferro and tight end Zeke Walters have both been honored by the College Football Performance Awards for their performances in Saturday's 41-14 win over Gardner-Webb.

Taliaferro and Walters were both named Honorable Mention Performers of the Week at their respective positions.

In the win, Taliaferro completed 16-of-29 passes for a season-high 290 yards and three touchdowns. Taliaferro threw touchdown passes from 60, 25 and seven yards.

Walters caught two passes for a career-high 52 yards in Saturday's contest. Walters had a long reception of 40 yards that set up a field goal midway through the second quarter.

This week, the Bulldogs return to Southern Conference play with a game at Furman on Saturday. The game is scheduled for a 12:30 p.m. (CT) kickoff from Paladin Stadium in Greenville, S.C.
