BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford University volleyball team welcomes in six new student-athletes to this season's squad with each being introduced on SamfordSports.com over the duration of the team's fall camp.
 
Taylor Anderton, a freshman from Collierville, Tennessee is set for her first collegiate season of volleyball after lettering five seasons for Evangelical Christian School. Anderton accumulated numerous awards over her high school career which included being named to the 2014 AVCA Under Armor All-American Watch List.
 
Samford Head Coach Derek Schroeder weighed in on Anderton about what she will bring to the team this season.
 
Where do you see Anderton making the biggest impact on the team?
"Taylor has a lot of game experience and a great amount of court savvy. She understands the game of volleyball and how a point, a set and a match unfolds. That is where she will help us the most."
 
What are some of Anderton's strengths and what intangibles does she possess?
"Besides her court presence Anderton plays very solid right back defense. Intangibly she will bring volleyball IQ and a ton of grit & determination."
 
What will fans notice about Anderton's play on the court?
"She will sacrifice to make a defensive play and she will do the little things to make her hitters better. I think our fan base will see a setter who is exciting to watch and one who also gets better and better every time she suits up."
