Women's Hoops To Play At Clemson Saturday

GAME NOTES
BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—
The Samford women's basketball team will travel to Clemson, S.C., to take on the Clemson Tigers Saturday at 12 p.m. (CT) at Littlejohn Coliseum.
 
Samford enters the game with a record of 5-4 overall and 2-0 in Southern Conference play. The Bulldogs are coming off a 72-61 loss at Oregon on Dec. 18.
 
In the loss to Oregon, Samford was led in scoring by senior Jazmine Martin with 13 points. Freshman Krista Stricklin posted her first career double-double, scoring 12 points and grabbing 11 rebounds.
 
Sophomore Taylor Reece also scored 12 points at Oregon for the Bulldogs. Junior Shelby Campbell added 11 points in the loss for Samford.
 
For the season, Samford is led in scoring by Campbell, averaging 9.8 points per game. Reece averages 9.2 points per game. Senior Hannah Dawson is the team leader in rebounding, grabbing 5.4 boards per contest. Campbell and fellow junior Kendall Schwantz are tied for second in rebounding, averaging 4.2 rebounds per game each.
 
Clemson enters the game with a record of 3-7. The Tigers are coming off a 62-47 win over Providence on Wednesday.
           
Clemson is led in scoring by Danejah Grant, averaging 13.4 points per game. Nikki Dixon is averaging 13.1 points per contest.
           
Jonquel Jones is leading the Tigers in rebounding, grabbing 10.0 boards per contest. Quinyotta Pettaway averages 7.8 rebounds per game.
           
Aisha Turner is Clemson's leader in assists, dishing out 2.9 assists per game. Chelsea Lindsay is averaging 2.3 assists per game.
 
Samford and Clemson will be meeting for just the second time in women's basketball, with Samford holding a 1-0 advantage in the series. The teams previously met on Dec. 12, 2010 in the Pete Hanna Canter, with Samford coming away with a 58-48 win.
 
In that lone previous meeting Emily London led Samford with 17 points. Paige Anderson scored 11 points, while Dawson added 10 points for the Bulldogs.
