BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford women's basketball program has signed Krista Stricklin to a national letter of intent, head coach Mike Morris announced on Wednesday.
"We're definitely excited to have Krista as a part of our basketball family," Morris said. "She was an outstanding scorer in high school and a tremendous worker. At the guard position, she will bring some depth to our team."
In her four-year career at Hayden High School in Hayden, Ala., Stricklin scored an impressive 3,155 points. Her scoring total ranks ninth in the history of the state of Alabama.
Stricklin averaged 26.9 points per game as a senior in 2011-12. She also averaged 6.3 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 5.1 steals per game. As a senior, Stricklin helped lead her team to a 27-4 overall record.
As a junior, her team finished with a record of 24-6. She averaged 26.4 points, 6.8 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 4.3 steals per game in her junior season.
Morris added that he hopes to add one more signee later in the spring.
