Men's Pole Vault Start List
DES MOINES, Iowa. ---- Samford senior Michael Seaman will compete in his final meet as a Bulldog Friday, as he concludes a stellar collegiate career at the 2012 NCAA Outdoor Championships in the men's pole vault. The event is set to start at 4:30 p.m. CT as he and 23 other qualifiers will look to become a national champion.
Individuals finishing in the top eight will earn first team All America honors, while those from ninth to 16th will earn second team honors. Those finishing 17th or lower will earn honorable mention All America accolades.
Seaman qualified for the national meet after finishing 10th at the NCAA East Regional with a height of 17-3.5 (5.27m), clearing it on his second attempt. This will be his fifth trip to the NCAA Championships, his third in the outdoor season. In the 2011 outdoor season, he earned second team All-America status with a 16th-place finish and improved on that in the 2012 indoor season, where he placed sixth to earn first team honors. Since transferring to Samford following the 2009 season, Seaman has become one of the most prolific athletes in Bulldog history, winning four conference titles and setting indoor and outdoor school records in the men's pole vault.
