LAST WEEKEND: BLAZER INVITE/CRIMSON TIDE INDOOR OPENER
The 2013 season's opening weekend saw plenty of Bulldogs setting new personal bests, highlighted by Katelyn Poole's new school record in the shot put.  At the Blazer Invite, hosted by UAB, Poole threw 41-3.75 (12.59m) to finish eighth in the event.  This beats the sophomore's own previous school record of 40-7 (12.37m) set last season.  The following day at the Crimson Tide Indoor Opener, Poole set another personal best mark for herself, this time in the weight throw with a distance of 47-7.75 (14.52m).  Anna Laura Irvine finished fourth in the women's 800 meters with a new PR of 2:12.21.

On the men's side, Bob Elliot II tied for second in the men's high jump, clearing a personal-best height of 6-8.75 (2.05m) on his third and final attempt.  After redshirting last season, Brandon Bassett performed strongly in his 2013 debut by heaving a personal-best 42-9.75 (13.05m) in the shot put.  Cross country standout Layton Dorsett placed eighth in the 3,000 meters with a collegiate-best 8:36.39.
