Box Score GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Samford women's basketball team shot 56.8 percent and held UNCG to just 24.1 percent shooting to earn a 65-52 Southern Conference road win over the Spartans Monday night at Fleming Gymnasium.
"I thought this was a great win for our team," Samford head coach
Mike Morris said. "I was proud of the way we responded after a tough loss on the road at Elon on Saturday. We defended well as a team and, obviously, we shot the ball well as a team. We grew up a little and matured a little as a team tonight. I was pleased with how they came out and got us a much-needed win."
The win was the 200
th of Morris' career. He is the all-time winningest coach in the history of the program with a career record of 200-144.
"I'm fortunate to be here and to have a place where I love to work," Morris said. "All of those wins are about players. It's about the good players we've had who are great kids, and I just appreciate being able to be here long enough to get to 200."
In the win, Samford was led by its two seniors.
Shelby Campbell scored 16 points, grabbed six rebounds and dished out four assists.
Christy Robinson scored 13 points and pulled down six rebounds in the game.
"I thought they were both key tonight," Morris said. "Christy did a great job of being aggressive and wanting the ball down low. Shelby did a good job, particularly in the second half of making some big shots, and that's what you want out of seniors. Those two have been here and they have a lot of experience, and I thought they kind of carried us down the stretch."

Lydia McGee scored nine points. Freshman
Brittany Stevens scored eight points, while freshman
