Late Surge By Mercer Downs Women's Hoops, 56-52

Christy Robinson led Samford with 15 points Saturday against Mercer.
Box Score BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – A late surge by Mercer helped the Bears' women's basketball team come back for a 56-52 win at Samford Saturday afternoon in the Pete Hanna Center.

"I thought the key in the second half was, when we had to chance to go up by ten a couple of times and we didn't," Samford head coach Mike Morris said. For Mercer, Briana Williams scored 19 points. Precious Bridges scored 14 points, while Kendra Grant scored nine points and Sharnea Boykin had eight points and 11 rebounds.

Samford, however, answered with an 11-0 run of its own to take a 26-22 lead with 2:07 left in the half after a layup by Robinson. Samford took a six-point lead into halftime at 31-25.
