BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—The Samford baseball team will travel to Greenville, S.C., to take on the Furman Paladins in a Southern Conference series this weekend. The teams will play Friday at 5 p.m. (CT), Saturday at 3 p.m. (CT) and Sunday at 12 p.m. (CT).
The Bulldogs enter the weekend with a record of 12-10 overall and 2-4 in Southern Conference play after a 15-7 setback against Alabama Tuesday night. Last weekend, Samford lost two-of-three SoCon games against Georgia Southern.
For the season for Samford,
Tommy Corbin is batting .408 with four doubles and 15 RBI.
Phillip Ervin is batting .373 with a team-high seven home runs and 18 RBI.
C.K. Irby is batting .363 with four homers and a team-high 24 RBI.
Christiaan Durdaller has a .339 average with five home runs and 18 RBI.
Samford is scheduled to start right-handed pitcher

Eric Wright (2-1, 3.82 ERA) as the starter for Saturday's game, while
Alex Milazzo (3-0, 4.68 ERA) is slated to start Sunday's series finale.
The Paladins are currently 15-6 overall and 5-4 in league play after a 7-5 win over Georgia Tuesday evening. Last weekend, Furman lost two-of-three SoCon games at Davidson.
Furman is led offensively by Alex Abrams, batting .388 with two home runs and 16 RBI. Will Muzika is batting .341 with seven doubles and two homers.
Furman has listed left-handed pitcher Nate Smith (2-0, 2.41 ERA) as its starting pitcher for Friday night's series opener. Right-hander Jake Wolff (2-0, 4.57 ERA) is scheduled to start for the Paladins on Saturday, and right-hander Tyler Wood (2-0, 3.92 ERA) will get the starting nod on Sunday.
Samford and Furman will be meeting for the 17th time, with Samford holding an 11-5 advantage in the series. Since Samford joined the Southern Conference prior to the 2009 season, Samford has a record of 11-4 against the Paladins.
Last season, Samford won two-of-three regular-season meetings with Furman. The teams also met in the semifinals of the SoCon Tournament, with Samford winning, 12-2. The only meeting prior to Samford joining the SoCon came in 1924, a 5-2 Furman win in Birmingham.
