BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Samford senior center Christy Robinson was named to the Capital One Academic All-District team for women's basketball, released by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday.
 
Robinson, who was named to the team for District 4, holds a 3.95 grade-point average in nursing at Samford. Robinson has been named to the SoCon Academic All-Conference team and Academic Honor Roll each year she has been at Samford. She has also been on the Dean's List at Samford each semester she has been in school.
 
On the court, Robinson leads Samford in scoring, averaging 8.5 points per game. She also ranks second on the team in assists (1.9 pg.) and third on the squad in rebounding (3.9 rpg.).
 
Members of the Capital One Academic All-District teams are automatically placed on the ballot for the Academic All-America team, which will be released later this year.
 
Samford will return to action on Saturday, Feb. 1, when the Bulldogs play at Georgia Southern. The game is scheduled for a 4 p.m. (CT) start from Statesboro, Ga.
