Lydia McGee scored a career-high 15 points and grabbed six rebounds Monday night at Davidson.
Box Score DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Davidson women's basketball team hit 10-of-13 shots from three-point range on its way to a 76-58 Southern Conference win over Samford Monday night at Belk Arena.

"When any team shoots 10-of-13 from the arc on their court, they are going to win the basketball game," Samford head coach Mike Morris said. "I thought our defensive effort was okay at times, but they made us pay for every mistake. They're a good team that shot the ball extremely well on their court."

Samford was led in the game by redshirt freshman Lydia McGee with a career-high 15 points. McGee also grabbed six rebounds, which tied a career high. Freshman Kassidy Blevins scored 13 points, while freshman Clara Young added 10 points.

"I was pleased with the way we started the game," Morris said. "When they stepped it up a notch in the first half, we didn't respond in the right way. But, give them all the credit. When they're making 30-footers, it's tough to defend."

For Davidson, Laura Murray led the way with 25 points. Hannah Early scored 21 points, while Shneeka Center added 12 points and 11 rebounds.

The game was tight early in the first half. Samford held a 6-4 advantage with 17:10 to go in the first half, following a basket by Christy Robinson. Davidson answered with a 7-0 run to take an 11-6 lead with 14:27 to go in the first half after a jumper by Alex Long. Samford fought back to take a 15-14 lead with 12:50 left in the half after a three-pointer by Hannah Nichols.

Davidson answered with an 8-0 run to take a 22-15 lead with 7:58 left in the first half after a jumper by Murray. Davidson pushed its lead out to 14 points at 34-20 with 4:16 to go in the opening period following a pair of free throws by Center. With Davidson leading, 39-25, Samford scored five of the last six points of the half to cut Davidson's lead to 40-30 at halftime.

Davidson scored the first seven points of the second half to push its lead out to 17 points at 47-30 with 17:35 to go after a three-pointer by Murray. Samford fought back to cut the lead to 12 points at 47-35 with 16:37 to go after a three-point play by McGee.

With Davidson holding a 52-39 advantage, the Wildcats went on a 7-2 run to take an 18-points lead at 59-41 with 10:54 to go after a three-pointer by Early. Samford could get no closer than 13 points the rest of the way as Davidson came away with the 76-58 win.

As a team, Davidson out-rebounded Samford, 40-33. Samford pulled down 13 offensive rebounds, the Bulldogs' second-highest total of the season.

Samford will return to action on Saturday, Feb. 8, when the Bulldogs play host to Western Carolina. The game is scheduled for a 6 p.m. start from the Pete Hanna Center.
