ATHENS, Ga. -- The Samford University women's golf team will begin play in its 2014 spring schedule Saturday at 7:45 a.m. (CST) as the Bulldogs tee off against 11 top-flight teams at the Lady Bulldog Individual Tournament being held at the par-72, 6,335-yard University of Georgia Golf Course.

The Second Annual Lady Bulldog Individual Championship is being hosted by the University of Georgia and will consist of 36 holes of stroke play.

There will be a shotgun start at 7:45 a.m., followed immediately by a second round with the same pairings.

The one-day, two-round competition will consist of 54 competitors from the following 12 teams:Â Samford, Alabama, Auburn, Chattanooga, Georgia, Georgia Regents University, Kennesaw State, Louisville, Mercer, Ole Miss, Mississippi State and Tennessee.

Last season, the inaugural event only consisted of one 18-hole round and Florida's Mia Piccio garnered the championship title with a 3-under-par 69.

Competing for Samford on Saturday will be Natalie Mitchell, Alex Jasper, Bailey Gray, Emily Stallings, Sydney Needham, Haley Harrington and Arin Eddy.

In Samford's 2013 fall season, under the direction of first-year head coach Ingram, the Bulldogs recorded impressive finishes of first, second, seventh and eighth place. Samford cruised to the championship title of the 2013 FedEx Memphis Women's Intercollegiate on Sept. 10, and then earned a runner-up finish at the talent-laden Great Smokies Intercollegiate on Sept. 17.
