GAME NOTES: Samford at Furman (03.15-16.14)

Samford travels to Greenville, S.C. to take on Furman University in a three game series with a doubleheader to kick things off on Saturday, March, 15, at noon/2 p.m. and then will wrap up play on Sunday, March 16, at noon.

QUICK HITTERS

This Southern Conference opener will also mark as the 38th all-time meeting between the two schools with Furman holding a 16-21 advantage over Samford. The last time these two schools met it resulted in 1-0 victory by the Bulldogs in the 2013 SoCon tournament on May 9, 2013.

The Bulldogs have also surpassed its 2013 season run total (135) this past weekend and now have scored a total of 165 runs before it enters SoCon play.

The Bulldogs enter the week with ranking in the top 100 of nine NCAA statistical categories: home runs (9th), double plays per game (27th), scoring (20th), and slugging percentage (33rd) are just to just name a few.

Mollie Hanson's 10 victories and 84 strikeouts rank her 19th and 38th respectively in the first NCAA statistical rankings released earlier this week. Abby Adams currently ranks fifth in the country in total home runs hit (10) and now is tied for first in the Samford record books for individual home runs hit in a season.

Sophomore Megan Dowdy leads the Southern Conference with 33 hits on the season and also has the top mark in the stolen bases category with 13 swipes out of 14 attempts.  Dowdy also ranks fifth in the conference in batting average (.379).
