'Dogs Set For Home Series Against Chattanooga

GAME NOTES: Samford vs. Chattanooga (04.12-13.14)

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford University softball team is set to take on Southern Conference foe the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga for a three-game series on Saturday, April 12, and Sunday, April 13, with first-pitch scheduled for 1 p.m. each day.

QUICK HITTERS
This will be the Bulldogs and the Mocs 42nd meeting all-time between the two schools with Chattanooga holding a commanding 34-7 lead over Samford.

SU's last win against UTC came back in 2009 when the Bulldogs took the final game of the series 6-0 in Chattanooga, Tenn. Since then the Mocs have won 10-straight over the Bulldogs including three series sweeps and a SoCon tournament victory.

The last time these two teams met Chattanooga outscored Samford 38-5 over a three-game series with SU scoring its five runs in a 15-5 defeat in the final game of the series.

Sophomore Callie Brister has been absolutely dominant in the month of April as through six games she is 9 of 21 (.429) at the plate with seven RBI, six runs scored with two walks and a grand slam which she belted on April 9, to put the Bulldogs ahead of Tennessee State 5-3 in game one of a double header.

Junior Mollie Hanson is just one win shy of tying the single-season record for wins as she sits with an 18-7 record after picking up two victories in the circle over Tennessee State on April 9.  Hanson's 25 career victories also rank her sixth all-time in the Samford record book.

Sophomore Megan Dowdy sprinted closer to the single-season season stolen base record for Samford as she swiped one on April 9, against Tennessee State to bring her season total to 18. The record is set at 20 and is held by Jessica Owens, a member of the 2008 Bulldog squad.

Both junior Abby Adams and Brister are making a run at the single-season RBI record as both now have 33 RBI's on the season; the record sits at 42 and was set by Amanda Barrs in 2008.

ON DECK
The Bulldogs travel to face in-state foe Alabama A&M for a early mid-week double header to be held on Tuesday, April 15, in Huntsville, Ala. The first game is scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
