Bulldogs Post Good Showing At Tiger Track Classic

AUBURN, Ala. – The Samford University track and field team traveled down to compete in the Tiger Track Classic hosted by Auburn University on April 5-6.
The Bulldogs broke four school records and posted six top Southern Conference times during the meet.
Junior Marie Demedicis absolutely demolished the Samford 800-meter school record and posted a top SoCon time on her way to a first place finish in the event. Demedicis's time of 2:07.94 broke Hillary Neal's old mark of 2:09.11 which was set back in 2011. Sophomore Anna Laura Irvine took fourth place in the even with a time of 2:10.74 which is good for the second best time in the conference.
Senior Lauren D'Alessio's time of 4:28.40 earned her a first place finish in the 1500-meter event which was also good for the best SoCon time of the season. Freshman Ansley Bos finished fifth with a time of 4:34.16.
Emily Allen broke her own school record again this season after a heave of 60.64m to place first in the hammer throw at the Tiger Track Classic; the throw also represents the top SoCon mark this year.
Sophomore Adam Jones took down the Samford record in the 1500-Meter run with a time of 3:49.77 to place fourth in the event; the record was previously held by Alan Parish who ran a 3:50.42 back in 2010. Jones' time represents the second-best time in the SoCon.
Junior Sidney Jordan took a sixth place finish in the shot put event with a toss of 15.80m; the throw broke the school record held by teammate Brian Smith and represents the best throw by anyone in the SoCon.
Just like the women the Samford men dominated the 800-meter event as sophomore Brandon Hazouri and junior Nathan Hendershot took first and fourth place with times of 1:50.38 and 1:51.26 respectively. The two times are also the top two times in the SoCon this season.
Senior Justin Emerson tabbed a 13th place finish in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.66 and took the top spot in the SoCon.
Two Bulldogs took top ten finishes in the pole vault at the Tiger Track Classic with senior Owen Waggoner's 4.90m and senior Ryan Cook's 4.75; both scores are worthy of the top scores in the SoCon.
