Box Score 2 SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Samford baseball team was swept in a Southern Conference doubleheader by Wofford Saturday afternoon at Wofford's Russell C. King Field. Wofford won the first game of the doubleheader, 6-5, and the Terriers took the second game by a score of 10-2.
With the losses, Samford drops to 32-24 overall and 15-12 in Southern Conference play. Wofford improves to 30-26 overall and 12-14 in league play. The game wrapped up the regular season for both teams.
Samford and Wofford will play again in the first round of next week's SoCon Tournament in Charleston, S.C. The third-seeded Bulldogs and sixth-seeded Terriers will meet Wednesday at 7 p.m. (CT)/8 p.m. (ET) at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park.
For Samford in the first game,
Drew McWhorter went 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBI.

Hunter Swilling added two hits each for Samford. Bulldog pitcher
Mikel Belcher (1-1) pitched 1.0 inning, giving up two runs on two hits to take the loss on the mound for Samford.
Wofford was led in game one by Josh Hyman, going 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI. Alec Paradowski and Eric Benk also had two hits each for Wofford. Eric Eck (2-3) pitched 2.2 innings in relief, giving up one run on three hits to earn the win for the Terriers.
In game one, Samford jumped out to an early lead with four runs in the top of the first inning. Wofford plated a run in the first inning and another in the second inning to cut the Samford lead to 4-2.
The Terriers added a run in the fourth inning and one more in the sixth to tie the score at 4-4. Wofford took the lead for good with two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning when Hyman hit a two-run home run to left field for a 6-4 Terrier advantage.
Samford came back with a run in the top of the ninth inning when McWhorter led the inning off with a homer to left field to cut the Wofford lead to 6-5. Samford, however, was unable to push across any more runs and the game ended in a 6-5 Wofford win.
For Samford in game two,
Brandon Haarer hit a home run, going 1-for-3 at the plate.
Danny Rodriguez also drove in a run for the Bulldogs in the second game.
Cody Pugh (4-5) took the loss in game two for Samford, pitching 2.0 innings, giving up five runs, three earned, on three hits.
The Terriers were led in the second game by Hyman, going 3-for-5 with four RBI. James Plaisted drove in three runs, going 1-for-3. Jesse Morris (8-6) pitched 6.2 innings, giving up one run on three hits to pick up the win.
In the second game, Wofford jumped on top early with three runs in the bottom of the first inning. The Terriers added two runs in the second inning to push their lead to 5-0.
Samford put its first run of the game on the board in the top of the seventh inning. Haarer hit a solo home run with one out to make the score 5-1. The Bulldogs added another run in the top of the eighth inning, but Wofford came back with five runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to make the final score 10-2.
