BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Samford's Joe Lee Griffin Field was ranked the 23
rd best college baseball stadium in the country in a ranking released recently by StadiumJourney.com.
The 23
rd ranking is the highest of any Southern Conference school, and the second highest in the state of Alabama. Among in-state schools, the ranking was behind only Auburn's Plainsman Park at 19
th.
The description of the stadium states that Joe Lee Griffin Field "serves as a testament that smaller, private schools who don't have big athletic budgets can still create a tremendous experience for their fans."
Each ballpark was ranked on food and beverage, atmosphere, neighborhood, fans, access, return on investment and extras. Joe Lee Griffin Field received four stars out of five in food and beverage, neighborhood, fans, access, return on investment and extras. The facility earned a perfect score of five stars in atmosphere.
South Carolina's Carolina Stadium earned the top ranking. Carolina Stadium was followed by Miami's Mark Light Field, Georgia Tech's Russ Chandler Stadium, Mississippi State's Dudy-Noble Field and Liberty's Liberty Baseball Stadium.
