BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford University volleyball team continues a five game home stand with a series of three matches over the next three days. Senior Night on Friday, Nov. 6, will start the weekend's slate of matches with a contest against Furman University which is scheduled for 7 p.m. CST

Emily Meitz will be recognized for her time and dedication given to Samford University and the volleyball program.
The Bulldogs (10-11, 5-6 SoCon) enter tomorrow's match after clinching a pair of wins at home inside the Pete Hanna Center over Wofford College (3-1) and Chattanooga (3-1). The most recent victory over Chattanooga came during the team's annual "Dig Orange" match that honors former teammate Caroline Neisler along with raising awareness for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Light the Night Walk.
Furman enters tomorrow's match as the sole leader in the Southern Conference standings with an overall record of 16-6 and SoCon mark of 10-2. Junior Annie Bierman was selected as the SoCon Offensive Player of the Month after having a successful October while Jamila Johnson earned this week's SoCon Offensive Player of the Week after she totaled 29 kills in a pair of matches.
The Paladins are currently riding a five-game win streak which includes road victories over Mercer and ETSU. Home court has played an advantage for all SoCon teams this season as the field has recorded an overall home record of 37-17 with Samford holding a 5-1 record inside the Pete Hanna Center.
Samford's offense has come alive over the past two matches as the team is hitting .250 over that span and has out hit opponents 119 kills to 100 kills. Redshirt freshman
Kate Neisler tallied 18 kills (.419) just last evening while juniors
Erin Bognar and
Kiahna Wicks put down 16 & 11 kills respectively.
The Bulldogs will wrap up the weekend with a pair of matches against The Citadel (7-21, 0-11 SoCon) who is seeking its first SoCon victory of the season. The two teams will square off on Saturday, Nov. 7, at 7 p.m. (CST) and on Sunday, Nov. 8, at 11 a.m. (CST) in a contest that was rescheduled due to the effects of Hurricane Joaquin.
The Citadel is led offensively by Moriah Smith who has 345 kills on the season while also tallying 309 digs and 34 total blocks. Defensively Samantha Espy leads the way with a total of 476 digs for an average of 4.33 digs per set.
Samford holds an overall 8-0 record against The Citadel while the trail slightly behind in the all-time series against Furman with a record of 8-15.
