BIRMINGHAM, Ala.— The Samford women's basketball team will travel to Spartanburg, S.C., to take on the Wofford Terriers in Southern Conference action Saturday at 1 p.m. (CT) at Benjamin Johnson Arena.
Samford enters the game with a record of 13-11 overall and 6-3 in SoCon play. The Bulldogs are coming off an 88-66 win over UNCG Monday evening.
Samford is led in scoring by sophomore guard Hannah Nichols, averaging 13.6 points per game. Junior center Taylor Reece scores 11.1 points per game for the Bulldogs.
Freshman forward Destiney Elliott is the team leader in rebounds, grabbing 6.1 boards per contest. Junior guard Krista Stricklin averages 4.8 rebounds per game.
Sophomore guard Brittany Stevens leads the Bulldogs in assists, dishing out 3.4 assists per game. Elliott and sophomore guard Lydia McGee average 2.2 assists per game each.
Wofford is currently 7-17 overall and 2-7 in SoCon games. The Terriers are coming off a 68-41 loss at Chattanooga Monday night.
Jordan Frazier leads Wofford in scoring, averaging 15.3 points per game. Maria Corella scores 9.0 points per game for the Terriers.
The team leader in rebounding is Ashton Fleming, averaging 7.5 boards per contest. Khadijah Joyner averages 4.7 rebounds per game.
Chanel Stokes leads Wofford in assists, dishing out 2.4 assists per game. Frazier averages 1.9 assists per game so far this season.
Samford and Wofford are meeting for the 18th time, with the Bulldogs holding a 15-2 advantage in the series. The teams met just a week ago, on Feb. 7, in the Pete Hanna Center. Samford won the earlier meeting, coming away with a 69-50 victory over the Terriers. The Bulldogs are 8-0 against Wofford in Birmingham, 5-2 against the Terriers in Spartanburg, S.C., and 2-0 at neutral sites.
