ROSEMONT, Illinois – The Samford University softball team embarks on its' 2015 journey on Friday, February 6, inside The Dome at the Ballpark with a double-header against Miami University and the University of Central Michigan; first pitch against Miami will take place at 1 p.m.
The double-header is just a part of the first day of action of the Total Control Invitational. The Bulldogs will finish out the tournament with contests against Syracuse, Loyola and Butler over the next three days.
SU begins the season after a very successful 2014 campaign were the young team set numerous individual and team single season records to go along with a slew of post-season accolades.
Samford will be led by the senior contingent of shortstop
Abby Adams, outfielder
Caroline Seay and pitcher
Shelby Scott. The trio of upperclassmen will need to provide the leadership neccessary to help get the team off to the right start.
The 'Hawks and the Bulldogs have only matched up six previous times and the series between the two squads is tied at three wins a piece. Samford however took decisions over Miami in the last two contests as the two teams met in a season-opening doubleheader on Feb. 21, 2010 where SU won 2-1 and 4-1.
Samford is 2-0 against the rest of the field at the Total Control Invitational and will face two opponents for the first time Syracuse and Central Michigan.
