Javion Lee earned the Bulldogs only SoCon Athlete of the Month Award for the month of January.
Lee earned the SoCon Indoor Field Athlete of the Month after several impressive performances in a series of meets throughout January.
The Clinton, Mississippi native set a school record and SoCon best mark of 14.96m in the triple jump in his first ever indoor meet as a Bulldog at the UAB Blazer Invitational on Jan. 9. He also tallied a personal-best and SoCon best in the long jump later on with a mark of 7.06m.
The sophomore continued to improve the following weekend at the Auburn Invitational on Jan. 17, when he posted a new personal-best in the triple jump with a leap of 15.00m. The mark was good enough to finish third amongst a field filled with SEC and ACC competitors.
Both track and field teams return to competition when Samford hosts the Samford Invitational at the Birmingham CrossPlex on Feb. 13-14.
