Women's Hoops To Host ETSU Thursday On ESPN3

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—
The Samford women's basketball team will play host to East Tennessee State Thursday evening at 6 p.m. in the Pete Hanna Center. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN3.
 
The game will be Daddy/Daughter night in the Hanna Center. Any fathers and daughters in attendance can come to the floor at halftime and have their picture taken with Spike and the cheerleaders. The photos will be e-mailed following the game.
 
Samford enters the game with a record of 10-8 overall and 2-1 in Southern Conference play. The Bulldogs are coming off a 63-60 loss to Mercer Saturday afternoon.
 
Entering Thursday night's game, Destiney Elliott leads Samford in scoring, with an average of 9.0 points per game. Taylor Reece ranks second in the category, scoring 8.8 points per game.
 
Elliott also leads the team in rebounding, grabbing 7.8 boards per game. Amara Mayers ranks second on the squad in rebounding, with an average of 4.3 rebounds per game.
 
Brittany Stevens leads the team in assists, dishing out 2.7 assists per game. Elliott ranks second on the team in assists, with an average of 1.9 assists per contest.
 
ETSU comes into the contest with a mark of 11-8 overall and 3-1 in SoCon games. The Bucs are coming off a 74-62 win over Western Carolina Saturday afternoon.
         
Tianna Tarter averages 19.0 points per game so far this season for the Bucs. Shamauria Bridges scores16.1 points per game for ETSU.
         
Sadasia Tipps leads ETSU in rebounding, grabbing 6.4 boards per contest. Shomari Kendrick averages 6.2 rebounds per game.
         
Chandler Christopher leads the Bucs in assists with an average of 4.2 assists per game. Tarter averages 3.5 assists per game for ETSU.
 
Samford and ETSU will be meeting for just the fourth time ever in women's basketball. Samford leads the series, 2-1. The teams met twice last season, with each team winning at home. ETSU won the first meeting in Johnson City, 48-46. Samford came back to take the meeting in Birmingham by a score of 69-46.
