BIRMINGHAM, Ala.--The Samford women's basketball team will play host to the Chattanooga Lady Mocs Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Pete Hanna Center. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN3.
 
Samford enters the game with a record of 11-8 overall and 3-1 in Southern Conference play. The Bulldogs are coming off a 55-47 win over East Tennessee State Thursday evening.
 
So far this season, Destiney Elliott and Taylor Reece share the team lead in scoring. Both players enter Saturday's game averaging 9.3 points per game through the first 19 games of the season.
         
Elliott also leads the team in rebounding, grabbing 8.0 boards per contest. Amara Mayers is second on the team at 4.2 rebounds per game.
         
Brittany Stevens leads the team in assists, dishing out 2.6 assists per game. Elliott averages 1.9 assists per game for the Bulldogs.
 
Chattanooga comes into the contest with a mark of 13-6 overall and 4-1 in league play. The Lady Mocs are coming off a 67-44 loss at Mercer Thursday night. 
         
Jasmine Joyner leads Chattanooga in scoring, averaging 12.2 points per game. Keiana Gilbert averages 11.8 points per game.
         
Joyner also leads the team in rebounding, grabbing 9.1 rebounds per game. Moses Johnson averages 6.1 rebounds per game for the Lady Mocs.
         
Alicia Payne leads UTC in assists, dishing out 3.8 assists per game. Gilbert averages 2.0 assists per game.
 
Samford and Chattanooga will be meeting for the 23rd time, with Chattanooga holding a 16-6 advantage in the series. The teams met twice last season, with UTC winning both contests. The Lady Mocs won the meeting in Chattanooga by a score of 49-32, and they took the game in Birmingham, 56-49. Samford has a record of 4-6 against the Lady Mocs in Birmingham, the team is 2-9 in games played in Chattanooga, and 0-1 against UTC at neural sites.
